Reefie — Terms of Service

Welcome to Reefie, a focus timer with a diving theme. By downloading or using Reefie, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them — they explain the rules of the app and the limits of what we promise. If you do not agree, please do not use Reefie.

In plain terms: use Reefie respectfully, keep your names and content clean, and understand that pearls, species, and other in-app items are just parts of a game — they have no real-world money value and can be adjusted as the app is balanced.

1. Licence to use Reefie

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Reefie on Apple devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use, in line with these Terms and the App Store rules. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the app or its servers.

2. Your account

To use Reefie you create an account with an email address, a password, and a public diver name — or by using Sign in with Apple. You must give an email address you actually control, and you may not create an account for anyone else or impersonate another person.

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything done under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to it. Confirming your email address is optional, but it is how we can be confident an account is yours — if you never confirm it, we may be unable to help you recover the account.

You may sign out or delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting is permanent: it removes your diver and everything attached to it, and it cannot be undone.

3. User conduct and content

You are responsible for the content you create in Reefie, including your diver name and any room or expedition names. You agree not to use names or content that are offensive, hateful, harassing, obscene, deceptive (for example, impersonating someone else), or unlawful.

We moderate names and room names automatically and may reject or change any that break these rules. Reefie also includes a report feature so you can flag another diver for us to review. We may review reports and take action — including changing content, or suspending or removing a diver — at our discretion. We are not obligated to monitor all content, but we may.

4. Virtual items have no real-world value

Reefie contains virtual items and progress, including pearls, XP, streaks, collectible species, room and expedition progress, and a "Pro" status. These exist only inside the app. They:

are not your property and are licensed to you as part of the game;
have no monetary value, are not real currency, and cannot be redeemed for cash or anything of real-world value;
cannot be transferred or sold outside the app's own features (such as in-app trading between divers).

Because Reefie is still being balanced, we may add, remove, change, reset, or adjust virtual items and balances — including pearls, XP, collections, and shared progress — at any time and without notice or compensation.

5. In-app purchases

Reefie offers optional paid items: Reefie Pro as a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription, Reefie Pro Lifetime as a one-time purchase that never renews, and consumable pearl bundles. All of them are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store using your Apple ID, subject to Apple's terms. Reefie is fully usable without any of them.

Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy. A subscription renews automatically at the same price unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your Apple ID is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before that period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings; cancelling stops future renewals and leaves the period you have already paid for running to its end. The Lifetime purchase and pearl bundles do not renew and there is nothing to cancel.

Any refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies — we cannot directly issue refunds for App Store purchases. Prices and available items may change, but a change never affects a subscription period you have already paid for.

6. "Ocean impact" and coral features are in-game only

Reefie includes ocean- and coral-themed elements — for example, "planting" coral, shared ocean-impact counters, and community totals. These are decorative, in-game features only. They do not represent real-world donations, real coral, or any real-world environmental action or charitable contribution on your behalf or ours. Buying items or completing dives does not fund any external cause unless we clearly say otherwise in a specific, separate offer.

7. Availability and changes to the app

Reefie is provided as an evolving product. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app or its features at any time. We do not guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, and the server may be temporarily unavailable (for example, during maintenance or provider downtime).

8. Termination

You may stop using Reefie at any time and delete your diver and data from Settings ("Delete my diver & data") or by deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate your access to Reefie if you break these Terms, misuse the service, or if we discontinue the app. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including virtual-item, disclaimer, liability, and governing-law provisions — will continue to apply.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Reefie is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any data will always be preserved. You use Reefie at your own discretion and risk. Reefie is a focus and entertainment app and is not a medical, safety, productivity-outcome, or professional service.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Reefie and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, progress, virtual items, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $10.

11. Apple App Store terms

These Terms are between you and Reefie's developer, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Reefie. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or listed as a prohibited party, and you will comply with applicable export laws.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the courts located in England and Wales will have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Reefie, except where applicable law grants you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the app changes — for example, when new features launch. When we make a material change, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, note it in the app. If you continue to use Reefie after the Terms change, you accept the updated Terms.
